Hi CoP Members I was wondering if anyone has used the Resolution yet for advocacy with their Government? If yes, how did you go about it? Do you have any pre-made resources you can share? I’m looking for ideas on how to effectively use it with the Government in Iceland where I live. Thanks.
It is an interesting suggestion. I think it is useful for advocacy on the different levels.
First in the National Society and the Movement so that MH gets more prominent role in different Red Cross programs and activities, so that it is in a way mainstreamed in the RC Movement. Secondly it is useful for advocating better access and better funding to MH services at the level of national governments. Thirdly it can be useful for advocating for MH support for specific vulnerable groups. For example we will later this week launch a research report on mental health of informal carers during the Covid19 and among other advocacy goals one of most important is their access to tailor made MH support and services. So it can be used at the same time for more general advocacy efforts and in foundation for advocating importance of MH for different vulnerable groups.
The Danish Red Cross, the Netherlands Red Cross, IFRC and the IFRC PS Centre submitted an open pledge on Psychological First Aid for All during the 33rd International Conference, aiming to “support the scaling up of global capacity for PFA as a means to prevent an alleviate mental health and psychosocial needs and promote individual and community resilience”.
The pledge is open for signature until 31 December 2020
You are welcome to contact the PS Centre with any inquiries about signing the pledge: chtho@rodekors.dk
